Horsle

Horsle is a five-letter word game built around one fixed answer: HORSE. Unlike a normal hidden-word puzzle, the target is already known before the first move. The player can finish immediately by entering HORSE, but the main idea is to build a longer sequence of valid five-letter guesses before reaching it. There is no story, character progression, or campaign. Each playthrough is a short word puzzle where the player decides how direct or complicated the route to HORSE should be.

Building a Route to HORSE

Every submitted guess must be a valid five-letter word. After a word is entered, colored tiles show how its letters relate to HORSE, using the familiar format of green, yellow, and grey feedback. Since the final answer is already known, these colors are not used to discover a secret word. Instead, they help the player create a sequence that looks like a normal solving process before eventually entering HORSE.

Main Rules and Gameplay

Horsle does not have numbered levels or a fixed number of required guesses. The player controls the length and appearance of each route. The main actions include:

·         entering valid five-letter words;

·         checking the color feedback after every guess;

·         choosing words that gradually move toward HORSE;

·         finishing immediately with HORSE if desired;

·         creating a longer route that resembles a normal word puzzle;

·         completing the board and generating a shareable result.

The result includes the number of rows used and a grid of colored squares, but it does not reveal the answer directly in the shared format.

The game can be completed in a single row, but longer sequences create more possibilities for arranging the board. A player might begin with a word sharing only one or two letters with HORSE, then use several intermediate guesses before finishing. Because the target is always the same, the challenge is not deduction in the usual sense. It is about selecting valid words and constructing the route intentionally.

Related Wordhorse Mode

Horsle also has a related mode called Wordhorse, which uses a more traditional word-ladder structure. In Wordhorse, the starting word changes and the player must reach HORSE by changing exactly one letter per row while keeping every intermediate result as a valid five-letter word. The main Horsle mode is different because guesses do not have to differ by only one letter. Its central mechanic remains simple: enter five-letter words, use the color feedback, and decide when to finish the sequence with HORSE.
