Bracket City

Bracket City is a daily word puzzle built around nested clues inside square brackets. The player starts with a sentence that is partially hidden by several layers of brackets, and each bracket contains a clue that must be solved. There is no story, character progression, combat, or traditional level system. The goal is to replace every clue with its correct answer until the full sentence is revealed. The completed sentence describes a historical fact connected to that date.

Solving the Nested Clues

The puzzle is usually easiest to solve from the deepest brackets outward. Inner brackets contain clues that can be answered immediately, while outer brackets may depend on those answers before they make sense. Once one clue is solved, its answer becomes part of the surrounding clue and helps reveal the next layer. Clues can use synonyms, fill-in-the-blank phrases, general knowledge, word associations, or crossword-style wordplay.

Main Rules and Features

Each daily puzzle uses the same basic structure:

·         click any highlighted bracket to attempt its clue;

·         type the answer directly into the active field;

·         solve the innermost brackets to reveal larger clues;

·         use completed words as context for surrounding brackets;

·         continue until no brackets remain;

·         use a hint to reveal the first letter when necessary;

·         open previous daily puzzles through the archive.

Players are not forced to solve clues in one fixed order. If an outer clue is already obvious, it can be answered before all of its nested parts are complete. Emojis can also appear inside clues and should be treated as part of the clue rather than decoration.

Normal and Hard Mode

Bracket City includes Normal and Hard difficulty settings. In Normal mode, the player can type an answer, review it, edit it, and then submit. Hard mode removes that extra confirmation step: once the final letter is entered, the answer is submitted automatically. This makes spelling and certainty more important because there is less opportunity to correct a guess before it is checked.

A puzzle ends when every nested clue has been solved and the complete historical sentence is visible. There are no conventional levels with enemies, items, or upgrades. Each daily sentence acts as a separate puzzle, while the archive provides access to earlier ones. To play effectively, the player should start with brackets that contain no other brackets, use every solved answer as context, and gradually work outward until the entire sentence is reconstructed.
